Just dropping by to say hello again to all my family, friends and readers. Haven’t written here in over a week, but that may be about to change.

My online friend and fellow blogger Goldmourn has recently posted a challenge called the NaBloPoMo. Put it succinctly, the challenge for me is to put up one posting on my blog every day for the month of November. It can be anything, even if it’s just random ramblings! (I do admit, that post category is in need of some serious love, but anyhoo…) Who knows? You just might see much more news snippets here, or more album reviews like I’ve been meaning to do for a while now. (Unia, anyone?) Maybe just a quick sentence to shout out whatevers and whats-its! You’ll just have to come back to find out.

Well, hopefully I can hold out for a whole month. Time for me to step up on the internet work activity!

Cheers!

Me in Sox cap! Here’s something, that happened to me on Friday, that I didn’t mention over the weekend.

This last Friday, I was off of work. The bad thing about this was that I was spending my day off battling a medium-sized migraine. Looking back, it wasn’t that severe… but I digress. After feeling better, I decided to see if there was any mail that day. Put on sandals, get keys, open door, close door, walk, walk, walk to the community mailboxes. I opened our mailbox and, well, no mail.

As I’m walking back, I start to pass the small kiddie playground area built for the general community to use. I stopped. A lightbulb in my mind lit up, flickered and burned itself out. I looked around. No one near the area. No one to watch me, in case I make a utter fool of myself. I walk over to the parallel monkey-bars. Just the right height. I’m underneath the bars, with memories of my old high school days when I did some gymnastics on the side. I look around again… it’s now or never.

Grabbing one of the outer bars in a underhand grip with both hands, I command my abdominals and upper legs to pull up, making sure not to swing back at all. Up, up, up, as I take my feet, legs locked, in one continual motion from ground to air above the bars, while using my arms to pull while I go upside-down. I keep going, putting my hips on the bar where my hands are and my feet coming down to the other bar. Locking my left foot on the other bar, I use my back to pull the rest of my body to attention above the bars. I look around again, surveying from my new perspective. No one looking. Good! Enough of that. I position my hands on the bar and let myself slide forward and downward, head first, towards the ground. Midway through, I slowly control my descent with my arms locked in a pull, while locking my legs straight and using my abdominals to lower my legs in a controlled descending pike. All the way down. Feet hovering above the ground with me still hanging. Drop down. Everything still in my pockets. Cool! No one looking. Good!

It’s times like that when I’m reminded to be thankful. At thirty-five, I’m pretty sure that some guys would give anything to be able to do what I did. And I am thankful, every day, for all the things in my life.

Thank you God. Thank you for giving me the body to do good things, the mind to do great things, and the soul that commands them both to do awesome things. Amen to that!

Cheers!

It’s true that some people can solve this in under two minutes. Well, I’l working my way up to that point. For now, though, I’m just happy to make it under ten minutes! I mainly made this video to see where my shortcomings are and to gain some advice on how to improve.

The cube I’m using is the one that I got last week to replace the 4×4x4 Revenge that I accidentally broke. It turns much better; the old one was always rather stiff. That’s a good thing, as the stickers will last longer and the layers will have much more give. Well, enough gabbing from me… enjoy the video.

PS: It took me a while to write just those two paragraphs because Christine and I have been watching Torchwood for the first time. Very interesting show!

I decided to not waste my bandwidth for videos on the main page. Now, I’ll just use YouTube’s bandwidth for my purposes! :D The archived video blog entries will be in my Videos page here for anyone to view. I may even make a separate index page for the v-log entries.

Hope you enjoy the video!

Networking Know-How – iPhone for business? Forget it!

This “journalist”, Robert Strohmeyer, really did some arcane guesswork for his article, didn’t he? Hmm… maybe he read it from someone else who got it wrong. Or maybe he was just being silly. Yeah, that’s it! He was just being a goof!

When you read the article, read the comments under it from PC World’s readers. You’ll see what I mean. Hopefully they won’t be deleted anytime soon!

Sometimes the “experts” are really just pseudointellectuals… :P

Update: Today (10/16/07), he was deeply apologetic for his hasty research. It sounds like he did listen to the reader response. Most journalists don’t usually bother to offer a retraction. A thank you goes out to Mr. Strohmeyer. Read the retraction here!
