I thought of this yesterday, listening to one of my favorite albums. It’s kind of a cheeseball idea, but those who know me will say I can be pretty cheesy at times. While listening to this whole album, I thought of one favorite line from each song, a line that either has special meaning for me or just sounds cool, without having the title in it. Well, after that mental exercise, I thought “Why not blog it?”

I’ll start this series off with the aforementioned album. Theocracy’s debut album, Theocracy, is one that I’ve blogged about before. They’re relatively unknown in the mainstream; they’re in the genreĀ  of Power Metal with heavy Christian lyrics and beliefs. For a debut album, it so far has impressed most people who are into this genre. Anyways, I’ll list the song titles followed by my favorite line from it. Here goes…

  • Ichthus – “This will go on without me…”
  • The Serpent’s Kiss – “The poison seems so harmless as you drink of it tonight!”
  • Mountain – “The world disappears into the valley below me, as I’m lost in the glory of you!”
  • Theocracy – “To take the loss and bear the cross; Raise the kingdom, raise the kingdom…”
  • The Healing Hand – “…For the bleeding hand has become the ruling hand!”
  • Sinner – “Trying on my own I’ve failed…”
  • New Jerusalem – “Behold a world of corruption has passed away…”
  • The Victory Dance – “Trial by fire, my burden burned in refining fires of purity”
  • Twist of Fate – “Father, hear my cry!”

This has been fun for me, but it may not be fun for anyone else reading this without a point of reference. I guess you’d have to know the album to truly understand what the lyrics mean, though one may get a good idea of the intent.

Next time (part II), I’ll do this with a more well-known album. Maybe a Rush album or something from the classics of modern music. Take care!
