YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!!

No need for a Game 5… it’s too bad we can’t be at the victory parties in Chicago! However, I do work with quite a few transplanted Chicagoans here in AZ, and I’m sure we’ll all be grinnin’ ear to ear tomorrow! Yes, I’m a Cubs fan and a White Sox fan, too. I’m just glad that one of our Chicago teams is doing the victory dance tonight! (And it only took 88 years!)

On a side note, I kinda wonder how many (or few?) teams have swept a World Series?

(Will someone please get Jerry Reinsdorf off the TV?)

I have to hand it to the Houston Astros, though. They put up a great fight, as evidenced by the really close games. Just like I did for the Sox, I made an insignia for the Astros to use on this blog… just in case they won a game or two. I can’t say I’m terribly disappointed that I couldn’t use it! I may post some more afterthoughts on this during the weekend, when it’s had a chance to sink in more. I still can’t believe it!!! Whoooooooohoooooooo!!!!!

Cheers and blessings!

I had to go to sleep last night… lost patience with seeing how the game was going to end! I found out about it at work, though. The longest game in World Series history! As I fell asleep, I was worried that the Sox wouldn’t pull through. I know better not to worry now. Sox beat the Astros 7-5, after 14 innnings taking 5 hours and 41 minutes. These games have been too close so far… real nail-biters!

I’m watching Game 4 now… no runs by either team until the 8th inning! This is almost unheard of, I think! Now, the Sox finally have a run in. Let’s see what happens… you know the old saying; it isn’t over until that fat horned valkyrie sings! (taken from ancient Norse text!)

P.S.: This is my blog’s 100th posting on Blogger.com! Woooooohooooooo!

I didn’t get the chance to see it, though, because I had to work overnight. I’m very happy that the Sox won 7-6 against the Astros. Christine had to give me the details, such as Paul Konerko getting a grand slam! That’s something of a rarity in any World Series! I’m just glad it wasn’t a slaughter on either side. Makes things interesting, no? Let’s see what happens in Game 3!

(7:30 pm) Well, here we are… just a couple of White Sox fans watching one of our favorite teams play in the World Series. I had slim hopes that either Chicago team would make it this far within my lifetime! Confession here: I’m more the Cubs fan, but I consider myself a Chicago fan more than picking either team. Christine’s thoughts: there’s only one Chicago team. But I digress! I’m happy just to be watching this. So far… bottom of the 7th inning, score is Chicago White Sox 4 – Houston Astros 3. Will post update really soon…

(8:21 pm) What a game! The Astros put up a good fight, but our Chicago White Sox are the winners of Game 1, with the ending score of 5 to 3! I’m not much into sports, but I’ve always had a soft spot for baseball. Especially now, since it’s my home city team. I’ll post Game 2 when the time comes. Cheers!

… can be both enjoyable AND a great time-waster!

I’ve been playing the Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness game for about a couple weeks now, when I have the time to waste. It’s actually quite enjoyable, which I never thought a Pokémon game would be, at least for my tastes. I’m more used to one-on-one fighting or RPG games. Well, this game has RPG elements, but when you need to fight… you have super-powered animals fighting for you! All you do is instruct them on what moves to use against their rivals. This is something pretty new to me. Usually, for most games, fighting strategy is more direct but, in this case, you need to use the right pokémon against whatever other animals you’re facing. Like, a grass pokémon versus a water pokémon, so on and so forth. It makes you really think on adaptive strategies and research before battles. Boy, the things we’re teaching kids nowadays! Trust me on this: some of the “kid’s games” out there can be quite challenging. Not only that, but games like this may teach kids the value of life. I’ve gone through (I think) half of this game, and so far there has been no killing of any kind. Always a good thing, IMHO.

Next game review up: maybe a Star Wars game.

Cheers!
